Can I pick up my order from your warehouse in Salem?

You're welcome to pick them up at our Salem warehouse which is open Monday-Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm PST. We recommend placing the order online first and selecting pick up during the checkout process. Please allow 2 hours from the time you place the order for it to be processed and ready for you. If pick up is not an option during checkout, that means the item is not here in Salem. Items being offered via the Rental Program, Student Marketplace or from the Auxiliary warehouse are not available for pickup.

Where is my order and how long will it take to reach me?

You can track expedited and UPS Air shipments either from our home page using Quick Track or you can go to My Account and you will see a My Recent Order field there. Please allow up to 24 hours for your tracking information to be updated.

How long will it take to reach me?

Your order will normally leave our warehouse within 24 hours, usually in much less time than that. After that, USPS or UPS/FedEx will deliver it to you within the timeframe you requested when you chose a shipping method for your order.

  • Standard shipping normally takes 7-10 business days to be delivered.
    • This class of service is shipped via UPS Mail Innovations or FedEx SmartPost.
    • These couriers work with the U.S. Postal Service, providing the pick-up, processing, and interim transportation of mail, with final delivery being made by domestic postal services. They will induct your package into the U.S. Postal Service within 48 hours of processing. The U.S. Postal Service will then deliver your order within three to five days, on average.
  • Expedited shipping (USPS Priority mail, UPS/FED EX ground) takes 3-5 business days to be delivered.
    • This class of service is shipped with tracking.
    • As your order travels to its destination, it is scanned when it is accepted; when it arrives or leaves a facility, and when it is in the process of being delivered. These scan events can then be viewed by using the Track & Confirm function on the appropriate courier sites.

My credit card was declined, but the "charge" is showing on my credit card. What happened?

If your order was declined during the checkout process you may see what looks like a "charge" to your card if checking your statement online or by phone. PLEASE NOTE: YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED. The "charge" appearing on your card is called a pending hold. Pending holds come about because banks and credit card companies hold funds for online transactions while they verify information in order to determine whether or not to approve the transaction. If the transaction was declined by your bank or your credit card company, the hold will come off your statement in accordance with the policies established by your bank or Credit Card Company. If you have any questions about when the hold will come off, please contact your bank or credit card company directly.

You may receive an error message in the checkout process if your billing information or card security code is not exactly how your bank/credit company has it on file. Please do not attempt to submit the transaction again until you’ve verified the correct information with your bank or Credit Card Company. Doing so could create multiple holds on your account. Bookbyte.com has no control over when these holds are released; they are subject to the policies established by your bank or Credit Card Company.

Why was my payment declined?

If you have insufficient funds or have reached your credit limit, your financial institution or credit card company may decline your transaction.

If the billing address you entered during your purchase does not match the one your financial institution or credit card company has on file (the one to which your statements are sent), your purchase may be declined. This process is called AVS (address verification system). Can I sell you the book when I’m done with it?

Yes, please do! We buy back most of the books that we sell and many that we don't. Enter your book's ISBN on our Sell Books page.

How do I know what condition my book is in?

    • New: book is in brand new condition and has never been used

    • Like New: book is in almost new condition (no markings or wear on the book)

    • Good Used: book has minor wear and/or markings.

    • Used: may include moderately worn cover, writing, markings, or slight discoloration.

    • Acceptable: all text is legible, may contain excessive writing, markings, cover wear, loose/torn pages or staining.

    • Damaged: all text is legible, may contain excessive writing, cover wear, staining, mold, or torn pages.

When will I get my cash?

We normally issue payment within one business day of processing your shipment. We either deposit payment to your PayPal account, or we mail you a check using USPS; how long it takes to reach you is up to them.
